LANTERN

Deep in a moonless forest, a single lantern hovers, glowing with soft golden light. No hand holds it. Moss hangs like memory from the branches around. The trees seem to lean inward, listening. The ground is covered in roots that pulse faintly, like neurons in the earth. The lantern's flame flickers not with wind, but with thought. It floats just beyond reach, beckoning. A lantern glowing in the forest, unheld, unclaimed, as if lit by the subconscious itself. What a haunting symbol for wisdom not yet integrated, for inner guidance that emerges from the mystery rather than the intellect. 

Lantern is waiting to be claimed by the hand of a Master. The subconscious mind is like a firefly in a magic lantern. It waits for humanity to not master the planet as overlords ruling the earth, but becoming a part of organic life again. You know we have organs right? Now let them play as if they were organs in a church: The Cathedral of Nature that gives us so much. Nature stands in connection with Creation and is here not only to cleanse the planet with oxygen, but to be enjoyed by you. This makes her trees and plants feel majestic again, for they are being seen. Through this card you are giving yourself the Emerald Green Eyes of soft beauty while exchaning them with your leafy friends. 

Organic food is delicious, yet often a way for humans to 'eat the forest' with its greens. The subconscious mind battles with the fear of toxicity and can make itself a Tree Statue of rightful behavior. The beauty is, that when loving and appreciating food and nature, its matrix shifts. Fearing toxicity projects onto nature, that it is in a poor state and in a bad health, while it actually helps us keeping good health! We then make of nature the Wounded Healer and we have to run to expensive biological shops not because it tastes very good, but because we want to make a statement of not trusting her and our bodies.

The Lantern may be waiting for you to walk through the forest soon and to carry a light for her....

Upright: THE LANTERN shines from within the subconscious mind. It does not light a path for the ego, nor does it burn for display. It flickers when something wants to be seen, but only from the corner of the eye. This card calls you to stillness, to trust the instincts and whispers that rise without explanation. There's something inside you that already knows, even if you cannot name it yet. Let the lantern guide, but do not chase it—it will come closer when you're ready.

Reversed: When reversed, the lantern dims or disappears entirely. You may feel lost, adrift, uncertain whether your intuition is failing or if you've simply stopped listening. Sometimes, we try to "force" enlightenment, but this card reminds us that wisdom arrives in its own time. It may also signify fear of the unknown or refusal to trust subtle truths. Gently ask: What part of me fears what I might see if I truly looked within?
